Business & Operational Audits

Understanding What’s Working. Identifying What Isn’t. Knowing What to Do Next.

An attraction can be busy and still underperform. Revenue may not be reaching its potential. Operations may have become inefficient. Guest satisfaction may be slipping, assets may be underutilized, or management may simply need an independent perspective on where the business stands and where it should go next.

International Theme Park Services, Inc. (ITPS) provides comprehensive business, operational, due diligence, and valuation services for theme parks, water parks, family entertainment centers, visitor attractions, and other leisure properties worldwide.

We go into an existing operation and look at the business as a whole—how it operates, how it performs financially, how guests experience it, how its assets are being used, and how effectively the individual pieces work together. We identify what is working, what is not, and where realistic opportunities exist to improve performance, efficiency, profitability, and the guest experience.

Business & Operational Audits

Our audits can encompass an entire property or focus on a particular department, attraction, or business issue. Depending on the assignment, ITPS may evaluate:

- Attendance, admissions, pricing, and revenue performance
- Ride and attraction operations
- Capacity, throughput, and utilization
- Food, beverage, retail, and games
- Staffing, labor deployment, and operating efficiency
- Guest service and the overall guest experience
- Safety, security, and risk management
- Maintenance practices and physical condition
- Marketing and competitive positioning
- Operating procedures and management practices
- Capital needs and opportunities for future improvement

Our objective is not simply to identify problems. It is to provide practical recommendations that management can actually implement.

Due Diligence & Investment Review

For owners, investors, lenders, developers, and prospective purchasers, ITPS provides an independent assessment of an attraction's operating condition, market position, financial performance, physical assets, and future potential.

These reviews can support acquisitions, refinancing, ownership changes, investment decisions, redevelopment strategies, or the re-evaluation of an existing property.

We look beyond the numbers to determine what is driving them, and whether current performance is sustainable.

Valuation & Financial Assessment

ITPS provides financial valuation and assessment services for banks, investors, owners, operators, and other stakeholders.

Assignments may involve the valuation of an entire leisure property or specific components of the business, including individual attractions, operating divisions, equipment, or other assets.

Our industry experience enables us to evaluate a property not simply as a collection of financial statements and physical assets, but as an operating attraction whose value is influenced by attendance, pricing, market position, operating performance, capital requirements, competitive conditions, and future earning potential.

When a Project Has Gone Wrong

ITPS is also frequently called upon when an attraction or development has gone wrong, failed to meet expectations, or has failed altogether.

Drawing on extensive experience evaluating, developing, opening, and operating leisure attractions, we can reconstruct how a project reached its current position. We examine the original assumptions, feasibility, development decisions, capital investment, operating model, management structure, market conditions, and execution to determine where the project diverged from what should have occurred.

The result is more than an explanation of what went wrong. We identify what should have been done differently, what can still be corrected, and whether a realistic path forward exists.

Experience Provides Perspective

Anyone can identify an issue after the numbers begin to decline or guest attendance begins to fall. The value is understanding why it happened, what it means, and what should be done about it.

ITPS brings decades of hands-on attraction development, operations, financial, and advisory experience to every assignment. We compare what we see against industry performance, comparable attractions, historical operating patterns, and, most importantly, the realities of running the business day to day.

We find the opportunities, identify the risks, and provide a practical path toward better performance.
